Seville's Plaza de España is seamlessly embraced by a semi-circular building, symbolizing an embrace of Spain's former South American colonies. As a backdrop for impressive flamenco dances, it does an excellent job of showcasing artists who, despite the high temperatures during our visit, put on a performance that would do marathon runners credit for.
A 500 meter long canal flows through the square. It is crossed by four bridges symbolizing the ancient kingdoms of Spain (Navarre, Aragon, Leon and Castile).
And if you start sweating here, you will quickly find drinking halls in María Luisa Park that provide refreshments.
It is not surprising that such an extraordinary place not only attracts tourists. Not only did it become the setting for the classic "Lawrence of Arabia" but it was also chosen by the film team "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" as a setting for this science fiction adventure.
